
In 2014, Borderplex Alliance in El Paso brought Anthony Giuliani on board as Vice-President of International Economic Development where he launched a series of global relations initiatives, including founding the only bi-national World Affairs Council in the United States, developed a Sister Cities program that created a sister city between El Paso and Hadera, Israel, establishing honorary consuls, and organizing trade delegations and events to promote international trade and foreign direct investment.
Borderplex Alliance has the distinction of being the only bi-national privately economic development organization in the world and focuses on promoting cross border trade and relationships on the U.S.-Mexican border.
Texas Secretary of State Roland Pablos hired Giuliani from the Borderplex Alliance and appointed him as the Special Assistant to the Texas Secretary of State. In this executive role, Giuliani managed international relations with an economic development focus for the Office of the Texas Secretary of State. He met with representatives from over 70 countries in this capacity working to promote Texas on the world stage by developing strong business, trade, governmental, diplomatic, cultural, and academic connections between Texas and its partners around the globe.
Giuliani played a major role in strengthening the international relations for Texas by developing statewide collaboration initiatives with organizations such as NASA, Texas universities, the Texas Consular Corps, tech accelerators, Texas state agencies, Global Fortune 500 companies, economic development organizations, and chambers of commerce.
He has engaged in international affairs on multiple other levels, having lived with a host family when he studied International Business and Mexican Culture at the Tec de Monterrey in Queretaro, Mexico and taught English in South Korea. Giuliani completed his undergraduate work in marketing economics at Illinois University where he earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in 2003 and studied law at Florida Coastal School of Law earning his JD in 2007.
In 2016, Texas Governor Greg Abbott appointed Giuliani to serve on the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners. Previously, he also served on the boards of Infragard, The Borderplex World Affairs Council, the Boys & Girls Club of El Paso and the City of El Paso Ethics Review Commission. He currently is on the board for an International Committee for the Austin, Texas Chamber of Commerce.
